Responsibilities As an IAS Tax Manager, you will have the opportunity to make an impact by:
Reviewing U.S. individual tax returns for expatriates and inpatriates (Forms 2555 and 1116) Reviewing tax equalization and tax protection calculations Reviewing extension forms Form 4868 and 2350 Reviewing year end compensation reviews for Form W-2 and 1042 purposes Reviewing hypothetical tax calculations Reviewing compensation summaries prepared by seniors and staff Supervising U.S. federal and state tax research on individual tax issues and communicating with clients Providing tax efficient planning for outbound and inbound assignees Providing guidance to clients regarding the use and completion of Form 673, W-4 and Foreign Withholding Statement Communicating directly with clients and their advisors by phone email or in person, and serving as the primary point of contact Working with clients to develop year end expat payroll process Coordinating global compliance and consulting services through the Leading Edge Alliance - an international network of independent public accounting firms Identifying tax planning & consulting opportunities, including coordination with client's other advisors Assuming certain tax and non-tax administrative responsibilities to assist the
Partners with the overall management of the Firm Working closely with the Administrative staff to plan timely delivery of returns Handling administrative responsibilities including billing, interviewing candidates, participating in training as an attendee and as a co-leader Progressing professionally by staying current with federal and state tax law changes and attending continuing professional education classes
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to explain the Foreign Earned Income exclusion (physical presence and bona fide residence) and identify issues related to qualifications under either on tax returns Ability to explain all items and steps listed on the Expatriate Tax Exit Briefing Form to a management Ability to understand the theories behind Tax Equalization and Tax Protection Understanding of a broad range of accounting issues including those involving higher levels of judgment such as: provision for income taxes, revenue recognition, subsequent events, contingencies and industry specific procedures Knowledge of accounting, tax, audit and related business trends Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction Ability to review and provide feedback on work prepared by Tax Staff and Seniors in a professional manner The ability to establish a rapport and good communication with clientele Ability to gather, organize and summarize information efficiently and effectively Ability to review and evaluate operating procedures and recommendations Ability to adhere to given budgets and time deadlines Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills Applies principles of logical thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Demonstrates strong organization skills and attention to detail Works on multiple tasks simultaneously with regular interruptions
Educational & Experience Requirements Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field Active Certificate in Public Accounting (CPA) or Juris Doctorate (JD) preferred Minimum two years relevant U.S. public accounting experience Experience working in individual and/or international tax preferred Minimum two years of management experience
